SPECIALIZED DEMO RACE MOUNTAIN BIKE 2021
A downhill bike that's all about speed, the Specialized Demo Race Mountain Bike offers a blend of traction and nimble manoeuvrability thanks to its mixed wheel size - with a 29" front wheel and 27.5" to the rear. Numerous World Cup successes attest to its capability, and an adjustable rear end means the back wheel can changed between 29" or 27.5" thanks to the smart pivot flip-chip, so wheel size can be altered to best suit riding style or terrain.
The revised axle path is more rearward, redirecting energy more efficiently to the suspension for minimised fatigue and lessened rear wheel hang-up - so nothing gets in the way of that all-important speed. 200mm of tasty travel is packed into the RockShox BoXXer Ultimate 29 fork, and the RockShox Super Deluxe Ultimate DH Coil delivers serious performance with rebound adjustment and external low speed compression. There's no stiction to overcome for this coil shock, meaning plush performance all ride long.
Sure stopping power is delivered by the 4-piston SRAM Code RSC hydraulic disc brakes regardless of terrain or conditions and the compact 7-speed SRAM DH-specific X01 components are super light, with larger gearing jumps between cogs eliminating the need to double-shift. X01 DH may not be a jack of all trades, but it's certainly a master of one - downhill. It's quiet, with trigger-like responsive shifting and a spot on gearing range fit for purpose, with a chunky ribbed chainstay protector eliminating chain slap and downtube protector preserving the frame.
